XPG SX8000 512 GB
ADATA je prošle godine predstavila svoj najjači do tada M.2 SSD imena SX8000. Riječ je o M.2 2280 SSD-u koji dolazi u 128/256/512 MB i 1TB izvedbama, opremljen je SM2260 kontrolerom sa NVMe 1.2 podrškom, 3D NAND memorijom, PCIe Gen3 x4 sučeljem te dolazi s pet godišnjim jamstvom. Dokaz je to da i oni mogu ponuditi moćan disk za prijenosnike i računala i ugurati se među elitno društvo.
Uređaj dolazi u malenoj kartonskoj kutiji unutar koje je smješten u plastično ležište. SX8000 se inače može kupiti u ovoj originalnoj verziji kakvu vidimo na slici iznad, a naknadno su dodali i verziju s tankim aluminijskim hladnjakom koji prekriva cijelu pločicu. Očito je potrebno dodatno hlađenje kontroleru i čipovima što ćemo utvrditi i testovima.
Uz SSD ne dolazi nikakav softver, dok je s ADATA-inih stranica ipak moguće preuzeti Acronisov True Image HD alat za migraciju.
Centralnu ulogu na pločici ima Silicon Motionov SM2260 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe kontroler. osim NVMe 1.2 certifikata, kontroler podržava i LDPC (low density parity check) ECC koji smanjuje broj grešaka i povećava integritet podataka. Uz to, podržava i RAID Engine, Data Shaping, SLC keširanje (pseudo single-level cell mod rada), te DRAM cache buffer. DRAM je Nanyin, a na pločici su ukupno dva čipa po 128 MB (ukupno 256 MB).
3D NAND je MLC tipa u Micoronovoj (Intelovoj) režiji. Na pločici su četiri čipa ukupnog kapaciteta 576GB (2x 48 GB, dual-die pakiranje), gdje se razlika do deklariranih 512 GB koristi za overprovisioning, a zapravo je 476.9 GB upotrebljivo. Proizvođač navodi brzine transfera od 2400 MB/s za čitanje i 1100 MB/s za zapis, uz nasumične performanse od 100.000/140.000 IOPS-a (čitanje/zapis). Radna temperatura SSD-a je od 0 do 70°C, MTBF je 2 milijuna sati, a proizvođač na uređaj daje pet godina jamstva.
Ultimate SU800 256 GB
Ultimate SU800 je SATA III M.2 SSD koji također donosi Micronov 3D NAND (TLC), Silicon Motionov kontroler (SM2258), a dolazi u 128/256/512 MB i 1TB izvedbama, a jamstvo je trogodišnje.
Identično je pakiran kao i jači brat, a zbog ipak manjeg zagrijavanja nema verzije s hladnjakom. Bitno za napomenuti je kako za ovaj uređaj ADATA ima i prateći softver u obliku SSD Toolboxa (što SX8000 nema), a s njihovih je stranica moguće skinuti i Acronisov True Image HD migracijski softver.
SU800 počiva na Silicon Motionovom SM2258 kontroleru koji je četvero kanalni 32-bitni RISC procesor, s podrškom za SATA 3.1 sučelje, NCQ, DevSleep, TRIM, S.M.A.R.T., Cfast PHYSLP i 24/48-bitno LBA adresiranje. Ima i 16-bitno DRAM sučelje, a na disku se nalazi 128 MB Nanyine DDR3 cache memorije. Kontroler podržava i 3D MLC/TLC NAND memoriju (ONFI 3.0), a na disku se nalaze tri Micronova 3D NAND TLC čipa svaki kapaciteta 96 GB za ukupan kapacitet od 288 GB. Razlika između 288 i deklariranih 256 GB se koristi za overprovisioning a zapravo je iskoristivog prostora 238.5 GB.
Kao i kod jačeg modela podržane su SLC keširanje, LDPC ECC, RAID Engine i Data Shaping tehnologije. Proizvođač navodi linearne performanse do 560 MB/s za čitanje, te do 520 MB/s za zapis. Radno temperaturno područje je od 0 do 70°C, a MTBF je 2 milijuna sati.

Način testiranja
Disk smo testirali na našoj standardnoj platformi (uz dodatak i Z170 platforme na kojoj smo ponovili nekoliko testova i rezultati su uvijek bili unutar statističke pogreške), a prilikom testiranja je disk radio s AHCI driverima. Uz sve standardne testove koje provodimo tu je i simulacija četiriju situacija uz pomoć I/O Metera – Database sa 67% čitanja i 33% zapisa, Workstation sa 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, Web Servera sa 100% čitanja i File Servera sa 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, nakon čega ispisujemo broj izmjerenih IOPS-a.
Savjeti za svakodnevnu operativu SSD-a pod Windows OS-om uključuju isključivanje stvari kao što su indeksiranje diska, zatim isključivanje prefetcha i Superfetcha te defragmentiranja koje je sasvim nepotrebno.

PCMark u svom Storage testu simulira aktivnost diska snimljenu tijekom prave upotrebe aplikacija iz Adobeovog Creative Suite-a i Microsoftovog Office-a, te dvije igre - WoW i Battlefield 3. Na temelju izvršenih mjerenja performansi donosi rezultat u MB/s. SX8000 je postigao vrlo solidan rezultat, no ni SU800 nije jako daleko, što ih čini vrlo pogodnima za ovakav tip upotrebe u kućnim računalima te prijenosnicima.

4K performanse ne leže ni jednom ni drugom disku, dok su 512K onakve kakvim ih proizvođač deklarira.

Rezultati miješanih testova, tj. simulacija četiri načina rada u serverskom okruženju su samo prosječni za oba diska i jasno je kako Silicon Motionovi kontroleri ovdje ne mogu parirati moćnijim kontrolerima, te kako nisu namijenjeni za ovaj tip upotrebe.

SU800 ponovno ima solidne nasumične performanse, dok je SX8000 opet podbacio.
AS SSD
Još jedna brzinska provjera uz pomoć AS SSD-a govori o tome kako su sekvencijalne performanse oba diska vrlo visoke. U slučaju čitanja, performanse SX8000 nisu kao što to tvornica navodi, no i ovo je sasvim respektabilna brojka.
Zaključak
Kao što smo iz provedenih testova vidjeli ni jedan ni drugi disk nisu baš briljirali po pitanju nasumičnih performansi propusnosti, dok su kod mjerenja I/O performansi samo prosječni. Linearne performanse su po očekivanju vrlo dobre, a jedino je u AIDA testovima SU800 malo podbacio. S druge strane, ovi diskovi nisu namijenjeni serverskoj ili workstation upotrebi nego manje zahtjevnim svakodnevnim zadacima gdje će biti vrlo dobri kao što to PCMark mjerenja i dokazuju.
Ono što još moramo spomenuti je zagrijavanje oba diska, koje je vrlo visoko. Pri dugotrajnim opterećenjima oba rade blizu 80°C, pa ih je nužno hladiti nekakvom zračnom strujom. Ako kupujete SX8000 preporučljivo je uzeti verziju s aluminijskim hladnjakom. Cijena SU800 256 GB se kreće oko 800 kuna što je vrlo konkurentno, dok se za SX8000 512 GB traži oko 2.000 kuna što je skuplje od primjerice Intelovog 600p SSD-a, ali i sasvim u rangu sa Samsungom SM961.
