Oko 10 € niža cijena, WiFi/Bluetooth kartica, SLI i Crossfire mostići, USB3.0 dongle i više eSATA/SATA konektora joj definitivno idu u prilog. No UD5 ima problema s bugovitim UEFI BIOS-om i lošim OC performansama.

Conclusion

We will start the conclusion of this test with the looking at the prices of the boards. They are still not present on Croatian market, and we took the prices from German web shops. Gigabyte X79-UD5 costs between 260 and 270 €, while the ASUS Sabertooth costs between 270 and 280 €. Not taking into account that these boards are intended for a different user profile, and looking at just the amount of equipment they have, UD5 would be a smarter choice. At around 10 € lower price it has WiFi / Bluetooth card, SLI and Crossfire bridges, USB3.0 dongle and more eSATA / SATA connectors that Sabertooth X79. But UD5 has problems with buggy UEFI BIOS and poor OC performance. We haven’t seen such poor VRM performance in a long time on Gigabytes boards. Sabertooth has a longer warranty, is cooler in operation and is a far better overclocker. 300MHz difference in overclocking the i7-3960X processor wouldn`t even be such a problem if the UD5 behaved stable. Often it would happened that it didn`t want to boot when overclocked, although it worked fine with the same settings a moment ago. It was unstable even when using a factory OC button. It undervolted a lot, and was precise setting of voltage was impossible. One can only hope that the problem is in the BIOS and that it will soon be resolved. Until then we can`t make a recommendation. Sabertooth X79 the other side behaved impeccably, and has proven to be great for overclocking and thus has a warm recommendation.
