Kao i uvijek, počinjemo sa sintetičkim testovima i to jednim od najpoznatijih – 3DMarkom 2005. ATI ovdje odnosi pobjedu u svim testovima osim onom u kojem se direktno testiraju mogućnosti pixel shadera. U ovom testu GeForce ima prednost što može "sažvakati" shaderski kod u verziji 3.0, no to ne objašnjava prilično osjetnu razliku u performansma koja se uz to kosi s rezultatima svih drugih podtestova. Čini se da nVidijin pixel shading engine jednostavno bolje "žvače" instrukcije od ATI-jevog.

RightMarkov D3D test je još jedan sintetički test usmjeren na analiziranje arhitekture grafičkih čipova. Ovdje također vidimo sličnu situaciju kao i u 3DMarku – dok su u pitanju performanse vertex shaderskih jedinica, ATI-jeva kartica vlada dok je u svim ostalim testovima situacija obrnuta. Premoć ATI-jeve kartice u VS testovima nije teško objasniti – X800GT ima dva puta više VS jedinica od GeForce 6600GT (6 naprema 3). Zanimljivo je da se ATI-jev čip ne može nostiti s nVidijinim u svim ostalim testovima – HSR-u, odnosno Hidden Surface Removal testu te testovima koji mjere performanse pixel shaderskih cjevovoda. Sve u svemu vrlo zanimljivo.
