Toshiba TR200 240 GB
Toshiba nam je na test poslala svoj novi TR200 SSD namijenjen korisnicima koji prelaze s tvrdih diskova, i onima s nižim budžetom. TR200 je nasljednik Trion/TR150 modela u vaule seriji, a donosi OCZ-ov "DNA" po pitanju performansi i trajnosti. Opremljen je s novom 64-slojnom BiCS 3D NAND TLC flash memorijom koju proizvodi Toshiba. SSD dolazi u kapacitetima od 240, 480 i 960 GB i nudi nisku potrošnju energije te nisku nabavnu cijenu.
Disk dolazi u klasičnom pakiranju. Malena kartonska kutija štiti blister pakiranje u kojem je disk, a uz to kupac će dobiti i knjićicu s jamstvenim uputstvima te upute za instalaciju. Jamstvo je trogodišnje, a izdržljivost diskova je 60TB zapisa za 240 GB model, 120 TB za 480 GB i 240 TB za 960 GB model. Toshiba je s ovom serijom krenula pomalo izbacivati OCZ brand iz imenovanja, premda se na kutiji još uvijek spominje kako koriste OCZ "DNA".
TR200 je kao nasljednik Triona 100 i Triona/TR150 prvi Toshibin disk sa 64-slojnom 3-bit-per-cell TLC BiCS NAND memorijom. Toshiba je razvila BiCS 3D TLC NAND, te zamijenila dosadašnji planarni 15nm NAND, a uskoro ćemo ovu novu memoriju vidjeti i u sve više diskova. Novost je i Toshiba TC58NC1010 kontroler koji je u osnovi Phison S11 i koji manji i jeftiniji od Phisona S10 korištenog u Trion 100/150 serijama. On donosi podršku za 3D NAND (što S10 nije imao) i LDPC error correction funkciju. S10 je imao osam kanala i bio napravljen u 55 nm proizvodnom procesu, S11 je napravljen u modernijem 40 nm proizvodnom procesu, ali ima samo dva kanala. Nema priručnu memoriju, tj. DRAM-less je, te ne podržava enkripciju podataka.
240 GB model kakvog danas testiramo koristi 256Gb 64L BiCS3 3D TLC NAND, ima specifikacije od 555 MB/s za linearno čitanje, te 540 MB/s za linearni zapis. Nasumične performanse su 79.000 IOPS-a za 4K čitanje, te 87.000 IOPS-a za 4K zapis. Sučelje je SATA 6 Gbps, a preporučena je cijena 90 USD. Za veći 480 GB je preporučena cijena 150 USD, dok je za najveći 960 GB 290 USD. Disk dolazi u aluminijskom kućištu standardnih dimenzija za 2.5" format. Formatirani kapacitet iznosi 223 GB (NTFS).
Proizvođač navodi kako je potrošnja diska u aktivnom stanju 1.6 W, a u DEVSLP stanju do 10 mW. Disk se u radu ne zagrijava previše. Temperaturu smo pratili u CrystalDskInfo i HWInfo64 aplikacijama i u stanju mirovanja je iznosila 33°C, a pod maksimalnim opterećenjem (dugotrajni zapis) nije prelazila 38°C (na stolu).

Način testiranja
Disk smo testirali na Gigabyte X399 Aorus Gaming 7 ploči s Threadripper 1920X procesorom. Prilikom testiranja je disk radio s AHCI driverima. Napravili smo usporedne testove i na Z370 platformi i dobili vrlo slične rezultate. Uz sve standardne testove koje provodimo tu je i simulacija četiriju situacija uz pomoć I/O Metera – Database sa 67% čitanja i 33% zapisa, Workstation sa 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, Web Servera sa 100% čitanja i File Servera sa 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, nakon čega ispisujemo broj izmjerenih IOPS-a. Poneke smo grafove malo skratili radi preglednosti, tj. izbacili smo M.2 diskove i one koji ne rade preko SATA III sučelja, a poneke smo izbacili poput ATTO 512K i Sekvencijalnih performnasi u IO Meteru. Savjeti za svakodnevnu operativu SSD-a pod Windows OS-om uključuju isključivanje stvari kao što su indeksiranje diska, zatim isključivanje prefetcha i Superfetcha te defragmentiranja koje je sasvim nepotrebno.

PCMark u svom Storage testu simulira aktivnost diska snimljenu tijekom prave upotrebe aplikacija iz Adobeovog Creative Suite-a i Microsoftovog Office-a, te dvije igre - WoW i Battlefield 3. Na temelju izvršenih mjerenja performansi donosi rezultat u MB/s. Novi TR200 se ovdje nije iskazao, no onima koji prelaze s klasičnog tvrdog diska će ipak biti iznimno brz.

AIDA mjeri performanse točno onako kako ih je proizvođač i naveo, a i vrijeme pristupa je vrlo dobro.

Performanse zapisa nisu ni malo sjajne, no oni koji nadograđuju direktno s HDD-a će ipak osjetiti razliku.

4K perfomanse nisu na samom dnu, no nisu ni sjajne. 512K perfromanse su onako kako proizvođač i obećava, 550MB/s za čitanje i 540 MB za zapis.

Rezultati miješanih testova, tj. simulacija četiri načina rada u serverskom okruženju su niski ali konzistentni. U usporedbi s prethodnikom, Trionom 150 su ipak puno slabije, pa je ovaj disk dobar jedino za čistu "kućnu" upotrebu.

Graf sa sekvencijalnim smo performansama ovaj put izostavili, a nisu puno bolje od prikazanih nasumičnih koje su na dnu potretka svih do sada testiranih diskova. Dosta loš rezultat opet govori u prilog kako je ovo value disk i kako nije namijenjen entuzijastima, nego korisnicima koji prelaze s tvrdih diskova na SSD-e (za operativne sisteme i aplikacije) i koji će pri tome osjetiti razliku.

Brzine transfera

Završni je test bio real life prijenos podataka s bržeg M.2 SSD-a na Toshibu TR200. Single large file je bio .mp4 video materijal veličine oko 3.5 GB, a Multiple small files je bio folder sa 13.845 fajlova različite veličine. Dobiveni rezultati su sasvim solidni u oba slučaja, a disk ne gubi performanse ni kada je popunjen skoro do kraja.
Zaključak
Iz svega što smo vidjeli riječ je o disku sporijem od svojih prethodnika Triona 100/150, što može zahvaliti slabijem DRAM-less kontroleru s manje kanala. No, svrha ovoga diska je snižavanje cijene po gigabajtu prostora uz zadržavanje solidne razine performansi i Toshiba je u tome i uspjela. Disk kapaciteta 240 GB dolazi s preporučenom cijenom od 90 USD. Tako bi vrlo lako, kada krenu neki popusti, TR200 mogao postati najjeftiniji disk na tržištu sa sva tri kapaciteta jer za 480 GB Toshiba traži 150 USD, a za 960 GB 290 USD. Ako na onih 90 USD dodamo hrvatski porez od 25% to bi moglo značiti i minimalnu cijenu od oko 700 kuna što je vrlo konkurentno. Performanse nisu sjajne, i latencije su dosta visoke no za sve koji prelaze s HDD-a će biti dobre, kao što smo vidjeli kod real life testa. Pozitivne strane su i nisko zagrijavanje te potrošnja. Trogodišnje jamstvo je u skladu s onim što konkurencija nudi, pa tako ovaj disk na kraju možemo preporučiti svima onima manjeg budžeta koji SSD do sada nisu koristili.
