Porast performansi overclockingom je linearan s porastom takta, no porast potrošnje i zagrijavanja je puno veći od koristi. Threadripperi su ionako moćni procesori pa sumnjamo kako će se nekome isplatiti overclocirati ih (eventualno ako su tako brži u igrama što ćemo ostaviti za neki budući članak).

Potrošnja sistema s Threadripperima je očekivano dosta visoka, no ako se pogleda koliko jezgara imaju u odnosu na druge procesore na grafu, tada se može zaključiti kako su zapravo vrlo učinkoviti. Kada overclockiramo, potrošnja raste i do 380 W za 1920X te 400 W za 1950X.

Kod temperatura ih nemamo s čim usporediti jer je korišten drugačiji hladnjak. Ipak, 1950X je na Tcontrolu pokazivao 103°C, a 1920X 101°C. Ako od toga oduzmemo 27°C offesta dolazimo do temperatura u grafovima. Kod overclockinga su Tcontrol temperature rasle na 113°C i 111°C (opet treba oduzeti 27°C).
